Majd Rahmani, Chief Technology Officer at Iris Inspection Machines, discusses how the company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI)–based assistant ‘iBot’ enhances glass container manufacturing.
AI is often associated with software and digital applications, but at Iris Inspection Machines, we believe AI has a huge role to play in industrial processes.
The ‘iBot’ is our AI-powered assistant, which is designed to optimise glass container production. It provides real-time insights and predictive analysis, ensuring manufacturers produce high-quality glass more efficiently.
The iBot acts as a smart assistant for both operators and managers. It collects and analyses data from our Evolution inspection machines, covering the entire production process: from the hot end, where glass is formed, to the cold end, where it is inspected.
It analyses the production in real time and gives information about past rejects, as well as helping to ensure equal performance on lines.

In addition, it does more than just monitor production: it predicts and prevents defects before they happen. Unlike traditional Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), which alert you after an issue has already impacted production, the iBot anticipates problems and allows operators to correct them in real time.
It can identify a range of issues, from verticality drift - where bottles begin to tilt - to defects in the finish, such as line-over-finish or unfilled finish. It also detects structural flaws like blisters, wire edges, and grease marks.
Instead of just raising an alarm, it provides precise data: where the problem is occurring, how severe it is, and what corrective action needs to be taken. This is a major improvement over older systems.
The key is delivering the right information at the right time to the right person. The iBot provides this - on the machine itself or remotely - to help monitor performance and initiate potential changes.
With iBot, production managers and line operators gain access to both the big picture and the smallest details. They can see real-time trends, pinpoint problematic areas, and intervene before a minor issue escalates into a costly defect. The result is improved efficiency, reduced waste, and higher quality output.
How it works
We designed the iBot to be user-friendly and easy to deploy. It works with all our Evolution machines and does not require an internet connection or cloud access, ensuring maximum security. Manufacturers simply pay an annual subscription, and we provide all the necessary updates and support.
In addition, to make adoption much easier, we offer live demonstrations for companies interested in seeing it in action.
AI evolution
AI can revolutionise glass production, by transforming manufacturing from a reactive process to a proactive one. Instead of waiting for defects to occur, companies can now predict and prevent them.
This shift does not just improve efficiency; it enhances product quality and sustainability by reducing waste.
The future of manufacturing is smart, and we are excited to be participating in this evolution.
